Pune Smart City and Dell to set up centre of excellence for smart solutions

Pune Smart City Development Corporation Ltd (PSCDCL) is going to set up a centre of excellence together with American computer technology giant Dell.

PSCDCL and Dell signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to jointly establish and implement smart solutions in urban development. The MoU was signed at Invest India’s ‘Smart Cities Mission Technology Showcase’.

The MoU was signed at Invest India’s ‘Smart Cities Mission Technology Showcase’ hosted by PSCDCL. During the one-day event, various start-ups shared their ideas and innovative solutions with Smart City CEOs, who may adopt these solutions based on their needs.

These start-ups have been working in areas dealing with the primary problems faced by our cities, such as transport and mobility, safety, surveillance, security, health, education; water, sanitation, solid waste, pollution and traffic management.

Invest India is the national investment promotion and facilitation agency of India, set up as a non-profit organisation under the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry. One of its area of work is to help the Smart Cities Mission identify innovative technological solutions offered by start-ups and deliver those solutions to our Smart Cities. Invest India is currently working with 1,003 companies, with an indicated investment worth USD 137 billion, an indicated employment of 1,981,147 people, and is extending end-to-end facilitation support.

Director of the Smart Cities Mission and Joint Secretary of the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Kunal Kumar, CEO of Pune Smart City Rajendra Jagtap, Invest India’s Rahul Nair, Deputy Commissioner of Pune Traffic Police Pankaj Deshmukh, CEOs of 15 other Smart Cities, representatives of other organisations and officials were present on the occasion.
