Sterlite Tech to implement Kakinada Smart City project in Andhra

Sterlite Tech, a Pune-based technology company, has bagged the Smart City Project in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh.

The company will establish strong web scale, optical transport network and optical fibre backbone with the help of telecom operators and government. It will help in the implementation of various Smart City programmes in the city as well.

“Our strategic aim for Kakinada is to improve mobility, improve situational awareness, enhance public safety and security, and introduce data-driven decision-making,” said Commissioner of Kakinada Municipal Corporation S Aleem Basha.

Sterlite will help in building a smart network that will build a strong connection between the city officials and 3.25 lakh citizens of the city.

The company will build Command Control Centre, CCTV surveillance, Wi-Fi, automatic number-plate recognition, face detection, waste and disaster management, in addition to IoT platform, LoRa-based city-wide wireless sensor network and disaster management systems.

“This smarter network backbone will form the pillar for stronger communications between the city officials and citizens of Kakinada,” said Chief Operating Officer of Sterlite Tech, Telecom Products and Services KS Rao.
