Chandigarh emerged as a shining star, clinching multiple accolades for its exceptional urban initiatives at the India Smart Cities Conclave 2023 held in Indore. President Droupadi Murmu graced the occasion, felicitating Chandigarh Smart City Ltd with the coveted title of “Best Union Territory” and commending them for their remarkable sustainable mobility and e-governance projects.
Chandigarh’s remarkable achievements were further underscored as Union Minister Hardeep Puri acknowledged the city’s revolutionary waste management practices, securing the third position in the sanitation category.
The India Smart Cities Award Contest (ISAC) 2022, a national showcase of urban excellence, saw Anindita Mitra, Chief Executive Officer of Chandigarh Smart City Limited, along with N P Sharma, Chief General Manager, and D V Manohar, Chairman of SmartBike, proudly accept the awards for their exceptional mobility and e-governance services.
Mayor Anup Gupta, along with Nitin, Home Secretary Kumar Yadav, and CEO Mitra, accepted the accolades on behalf of Chandigarh, dedicating them to the city’s proud residents. Mayor Gupta emphasized that these achievements reflect Chandigarh’s unwavering commitment to creating a sustainable, citizen-centric, and innovative smart city.
Mitra expressed her gratitude, highlighting that these awards reaffirm Chandigarh Smart City’s dedication to transforming the city into a model smart city, driven by sustainable development and continuous innovation.
The Chandigarh Smart City Ltd showcased its award-winning projects at the India Smart Cities Conclave at Indore. Efforts were made to create a replica of the city’s bicycling infrastructure and public bicycle sharing system. The President visited the exhibition stall of Chandigarh.
The conclave witnessed participation of all 100 smart cities which are leading a paradigm shift in the practice of city development by being at the forefront of urban innovation. The event provided a platform for the cities to showcase their exemplary work done under the mission to help crystallize the roadmap for future urban transformation in the country.
