Work on Rs 250-cr Bareilly Smart City projects to begin by March-end

The Bareilly civic body has decided to begin work within the next one month on at least six Smart City projects worth over Rs 250 crore, for which e-tendering process has already been completed, a Bareilly Municipal Corporation official said.

Bareilly civic bodyTaking stock of the progress of projects under the Smart Cities Mission, divisional commissioner of Bareilly Municipal Corporation (BMC) and chairman of the Bareilly Smart City Ranvir Prasad on Wednesday directed the corporation official to begin work on integrated command and control centre, handicraft promotion centre, renovation of Sanjay Community Hall and swimming pool, establishment of e-kiosk, development of waste transfer station and ‘She’ lounges by March-end.

The corporation is set to receive Rs 60 crore for implementing projects under the Smart City Mission.

According to Prasad, the projects finalised so far will not only create job opportunities in the city but also provide an organised look to markets.

Among other projects finalised for making Bareilly a smart city include installation of solar rooftops on 17 government buildings; installation of water ATMs; establishing an efficient solid waste management system; building a multi-level vehicle parking, developing digital classrooms in government schools, and renovation of buildings and other infrastructure in the city.
