Uttarakhand to start e-buses for Dehradun and Nainital

e-buses

The Uttarakhand’s transport department has purchased 51 electric buses and will soon be plied on the Dehradun-Mussoorie and Haldwani-Nainital route.

The trial run of these buses has been completed. 25 buses will ply on Dehradun-Mussoorie route while 26 will ply on Haldwani-Nainital route.

Last year, the trial run of these buses had to be delayed because there were no charging points for these buses.

The buses have been fitted with a panic button and an intelligent transport system for GPS tracking. The buses have pre-installed CCTV cameras as well. The buses can run up to 250 km in one go and can reach a maximum speed of 80 km/hour.

The buses also have an electronic display to inform commuters about the route and mobile portable charging units.

Himachal Pradesh is already running e-buses between Manali and Rohtang, covering a distance of 50 km in difficult mountainous region.
