The final week of the eight-week long ‘Switch Delhi’ campaign for promoting the adoption of e-vehicles gained noteworthy support from the masses, especially the youth of the capital, said the Government of Delhi on April 5. Hundreds of youth in Delhi took the ‘Switch Delhi’ pledge to make their first vehicle an electric one, it added.
Spreading the word of awareness regarding the monetary and environmental benefits of electric vehicles, the government organised various events on the eighth week of the campaign. As per the government statement, Vrikshit Foundation, led by a group of students, conducted a wall painting event and Let Me Breathe, an environment storytelling platform, created awareness on social media about the electric vehicle movement, the statement said.
Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, launched the campaign back in February 2021 with an announcement that the departments under his government will ensure that within the next six months only electric vehicles are hired for their official use.
