
New integrated passenger terminal building at Tirchy airport will be ready by June 2023. The new terminal building, being constructed at the cost of Rs 951.28 Crore, has been designed to process 2900 passengers during peak hours.
“More than 75 per cent of the construction work for terminal building is completed. The project be ready by April 2023,” said the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
“The new terminal will be equipped with 48 check-in counters and 10 boarding bridges,” the ministry said adding that the terminal will be energy efficient with sustainable features.
Under expansion work of Trichy Airport, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has also undertaken construction of a new Apron, Air Traffic Control (ATC) Tower, and upgradation of air side facilities, etc. The work also includes a four-lane elevated access road connecting the Terminal Building to the city.
“The expansion work is undergoing to reduce the growing passenger traffic and congestion during peak hours at the airport,” the ministry added.

Trichy is the second largest airport in International Passenger Traffic next to Chennai & Coimbatore.
