Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar has urged to Durga Shankar Mishra, Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India, to probe into the misuse of funds under Smart City Project.

The TRS leader has sent a letter to Mishra complaining against the some of the leaders of the ruling TRS government, including the officials, who were indulged in corruption and called the tenders illegally under Package-1 and Package-2 for about Rs 164 crores under Smart City Project and crores of rupees have been changed hands in the process of allotment of tenders.

Kumar is of the view that a few officials have joined hands with the leaders of the ruling TRS for commissions and have been actively plotting into corrupt practices and allotted tenders illegally to dummy contractors without taking up any developmental works.

Stating that the authorities and the ruling party leaders had siphoned off the State exchequer, the MP requested the Central government to issue an order for a detailed inquiry with vigilance authorities and prevent the misuse of public money and ensure that the Smart City project funds were effectively used for the beautification of the Karimnagar town.
