Kochi’s 14 islands to be developed as tourist spots

Kerala Government is planning to build 14 islands of Kadamakudy Gram Panchayat into one tourist destination in the city. District Tourism Promotion Council, along with 21 stakeholders including tourism department, district administration, and Kadamkudy District Administration will float a Special Purpose Vehicle for this project.

kochi_smart_cityAll the 14 islands will be connected through ferries. Walkaways will also be constructed to connect all the islands. Activities like experiencing village life, including fishing and farming will also be developed.

Not only this, water sports, mangrove park, floating restaurants, floating cottages, handicraft market, coir museum, aquafarms, pokkali farms, will be developed.

There are also plans to develop jogging parks, an amphitheater where traditional songs and dances will be showcased.

Facilities of rowboats and pedal boats will also be provided.

Floating markets will sell handicrafts and fish.

Agencies like Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute and district panchayat will also be associated with this project.
