Indian Railways launches all new Vistadome train ‘Him Darshan Express’

Indian Railways has recently launched a special train, ‘Him Darshan Express’, comprising Vistadome coaches on December 25, 2019. It will run between Kalka railway station to Shimla for the next one year.

The new train has seven coaches that include one first-class sitting cum luggage room coach (FCZLR) and six first class AC Vistadom coaches. The Vistadom coaches have glass roof and large windows on the side giving travelers the chance to enjoy scenic view of Himalayas.

The new Him Darshan Express also carries paneled air conditioning system with modern windows and LED bulbs. Each coach consists up to 15 persons seating capacity inclusive of five window seats on both sides. The first class coach can accommodate up to 14 passengers.

Him Darshan Express works on the concept of individual seat charter services through Passenger Reservation System (PRS) and various other online modes. This new train with Vistadome is first of its kind to run regularly.

Him Darshan Express runs between Kalka railway station and Shimla in 5 hours 25 minutes starting its journey from the Kalka station at 7 am and reaching Shimla at 12.55 pm. While returning, the train departs Shimla at 3.50 pm and reaches Kalka at 9.15 pm. Ticket for Him Darshan Express costs Rs 630.

The all-new Him Darshan Express had 90 passengers on board on its first day from Kalka railway station.
