In a recent meeting held by the Government of Gujarat to review the progress of aerodrome operations in the state, the government decides to start seaplane service from Sabarmati riverfront in Ahmedabad to the Statue of Unity. The state plans to kick start the service on October 31, on the Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary.

To roll out the seaplane service, the state government signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) in July 2020. The service aims to provide seamless and affordable connectivity via airway between the two places.
