CM Vijay Rupani inaugurates 32nd Elets Smart City Summit

Vijay Rupani“Besides the implementation of Smart City projects by civic bodies and urban planners, we must make sure that the people living in cities feel happy and satisfactory,” said Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani in the Smart City Summit, Rajkot organised by Municipal Corporation of Rajkot in association with Elets Technomedia Pvt Ltd. The event focussed on the Smart development of Rajkot and other cities under the Smart City Mission.     

While delivering the inaugural speech at the Smart City Summit here, Rupani said, “With the growing urban population, the expectation of people is touching skyscraping heights. What they expect is good hospitals, good schools and colleges, developed roads, electricity, water and much more! But the concept of Smart Cities not only caters to advanced technology but has an important part to play in the happiness index of people also. The city government and urban planners should execute Smart City projects in such a way that people living in cities must feel satisfactory and happy.”   

The summit also saw participation from Honeywell, Abellon, INI design and Amnex who presented their Smart City solutions.

Rupani asked city governments i.e municipal corporations, and urban planners to actively participate in meeting the challenges posed by rapid urbanisation.

While inaugurating the summit, the CM launched a skilled development plan for Raiya area that is aimed to develop as a compact town. Besides this, he also inaugurated the website of Rajkot Smart City project.
