Chennai Metro to revamp Saidapet bus stop

MetroIn what could provide solace to the Metro-rail commuters at Saidapet, Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has envisaged constructing a bus stop at Saidapet and integrate it with stations entry points. It will restore a part of stand destroyed when construction of metro rail stretch had started in 2012.

CMRL official said, “For some time we relied on a temporary shelter. Now, we would be replacing the part we had removed earlier.”

Also, the planning to install solar panels with 400 kW capacity for the lighting of the bus stop and metro station is in process. “With the design for new bus stand being prepared, the construction will set the ball rolling next month,” the official added.

Two other entry points with lift and escalators located close to the bus stop are also on the agenda.

Saidapet metro station along with three other underground stations was opened on Anna Salai. It operates with three entry points on Anna Salai, which paves the way to Guindy and also on the side towards Nandanam. At point only one entry point has access.

Saidapet functions with two bus stops where buses bound to Velachery, Tambaram and those traveling to Adyar and East Coast Road.
