Bengaluru to set up 100 e-vehicle charging stations

e-vehicleThe Bangalore Electric Supply Company (BESCOM) has invited tenders for the setting up of 100 e-vehicle charging stations across the city.

Each station will have at least charging facility for three vehicles. These stations will be set up at Government offices. After the first phase of these stations is over, more facilities will be provided at these spots.

Premises selected for these stations are Bangalore Development Authority, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike, Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation, Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board, and 11 offices of BMTC Traffic Transit Management Centres.

One such station is already present at BESCOM’s KR Circle corporate office. In addition to this station, two more stations are present at Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission office, Vidhana Soudha and Vikasa Soudha.

The new stations will be air-conditioned charging stations, and will just take five hours instead of 9 hours to completely charge the vehicle.

These stations will be built at a cost of Rs 1 lakh each. BESCOM is expecting that all the 100 charging stations will become operational by the end of this year.
