Varanasi bags the top spot in realising Smart City projects in UP

The Prime Minister’s constituency Varanasi has emerged as the most active city in Uttar Pradesh in terms of Smart City project implementation and utilizing its funds released by the Center and the State Government.

Agra and Kanpur followed the ranking, which is released by Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Development for 87 selected Smart Cities in India.

The released ranking is based on the parameters of expenditure, project implementation and performance in the past four years, since the launch of the mission.

In all India ranking, Varanasi got 11^th rank, while Agra and Kanpur got 24^th and 27^th ranks respectively. Lucknow got the fifth in UP and 43^rd rank in India.

Other cities from UP, Allahabad got 40^th rank, Bareilly got 50^th, Moradabad 61^st, Aligarh 77^th and Jhansi got 81^st. Saharanpur didn’t feature in the list of 10 Smart Cities in UP.
