The Prime Minister’s constituency Varanasi has emerged as the most active city in Uttar Pradesh in terms of Smart City project implementation and utilizing its funds released by the Center and the State Government.
Agra and Kanpur followed the ranking, which is released by Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Development for 87 selected Smart Cities in India.
The released ranking is based on the parameters of expenditure, project implementation and performance in the past four years, since the launch of the mission.
In all India ranking, Varanasi got 11th rank, while Agra and Kanpur got 24th and 27th ranks respectively. Lucknow got the fifth in UP and 43rd rank in India.
Other cities from UP, Allahabad got 40th rank, Bareilly got 50th, Moradabad 61st, Aligarh 77th and Jhansi got 81st. Saharanpur didn’t feature in the list of 10 Smart Cities in UP.
