‘Bellandur Walks’ to transform Bellandur

BellandurIn a recent development, the proposal of transforming the 28 km of roads in Bellandur has been submitted by Citizens’ action group Bellandur Jothege to Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP). The move will make the road pedestrian by enlarging its dimensions.

With the aim to reach the most congested areas and impart requisite makeover, starting from Bangalore Central to Wipro, the project called Bellandur Walks was supported by Mayor Sampath Raj, BBMP Road and Traffic departments, and ward corporator Asha Suresh.

Important initiatives like implementing rubber tiles for sidewalks, developing the trapped houses, and reviving Iblur Lake will be taken into consideration.

Naresh Sadasivan, one of the brains behind the Bellandur Walks model, said: “We will segregate project in two phases – the first phase is a 4 km walk aimed to solve traffic issues and  will cover areas from Bangalore Central to Wipro, with the Ibur junction and in Phase 2, our focus will be on remaining 24 km that will focus on side passages and parking facilities.”

Mayor Sampath Raj lent his support after examining the positives of the model. He asked JC Mahadevpura zone Sunil Kumar and Parmeswaraiah, Chief Engineer, BBMp, to go ahead with the 4 km model footpath project.
