In a bid to start work for construction of an international airport at Jewar, the Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL) inked a concession agreement with Zurich Airport International AG on October 7. The upcoming airport named Noida International Greenfield Airport at Jewar is around 100 km from Delhi in the National Capital Region (NCR).

As per Christoph Schnellmann, chief executive officer of YIAPL, “The Noida International Greenfield Airport at Jewar will become operational as per schedule by 2023 as we have already been working on all required procedures, such as geographical survey, topographical survey and soil testing, among other things.” The work will begin somewhere in the mid of 2021, he added.

The Government of India, on May 19, granted Zurich Airport International AG the security clearance for the singing of the concession agreement.

The Swiss company officials were given time frame of August 17 to October 15 for inking the pact, considering the restrictions on air travel.
