Two New Stations in North Chennai Line to Open for People Soon

Two new metro stations Thiruvottiyur Theradi and Wimco Nagar depot stations of the 9 km North Chennai line will soon be open to passengers. The Commissioner of Railway Safety (CMRS) has recently completed the inspection of the new stations.

In the previous week, the Commissioner with his team held an inspection of the several civil operations and system readiness at the stations. Also, safety equipment like fire hydrants in the ramp area, passenger emergency telephone, public announcements, passenger information displays, lifts and escalators and equipment like TVS jet fans, ramp sump pump, etc. were also inspected.

Apart from these, the inspection team also checked for scheduled dimensions which is the distance between the centre of the track and the nearest structure, gauge, level and clearance measurement after every 200 m.

The two stations will be a part of phase-1 of the 9 km extension line from Washermenpet to Wimco Nagar. The line was opened for passengers on February 14, 2021.
