In a bid to develop a local bus stand in Chathiram, Trichy, the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) of the Smart City Mission, Trichy Corporation conducted a ceremony on Thursday.
The narrow bus stand will be revamped to a multilevel complex which will accommodate around 30 buses at a time. The estimated budget for the project is Rs 17.34 crore.
According to the civic body, the basement of the complex will provide accommodation to more than 300 two-wheelers; the ground floor will have two bus terminals, each with 15 bus bays.
Apart from the multi-level vehicle parking, the civic body will build 29 shops, including a food court in the first floor.
As per the civic body, the revenue generated from these shops and food court will aid in generating revenue and address the maintenance cost.
