Southern Railways partners with Yulu to deploy EVs in Bengaluru

The Southern Railways have announced that it has partnered with the Bengaluru-based micormobility platform Yulu to launch battery-operated two-wheelers around Bengaluru to make it greener and cleaner city.

The startup will start its operations by deploying 130 e-bikes at an exclusive parking zone provided by the Southern Railways at the seven stations, including Bengaluru Cantonment, Bangalore East, Whitefield, Hoodi Hault, Bellandur Road, K R Puram, and Baiyapnahhli.

All the railway stations of Bengaluru will be able to provide this service by 2020. With these battery-operated biked the company is planning to provide convenient, eco-friendly and affordable first and last-mile commute to citizens.

Ajay Kumar Singh, General Manager, South Western Railway, on Friday launched 30 bikes at Bengaluru Cantonment station and around 100 more bikes started operations Bangalore East, Whitefield, Hoodi Halt, Bellandur Road, K R Puram, and Baiyappanahalli railway stations.”We are reinventing Bengaluru as a green Silicon City of India. We are happy to witness such positive support from state-run Railways. Our eco-friendly battery-powered two-wheelers will help a large number of citizens reach their destinations faster,” Hemant Gupta, Co-Founder & Chief of Operations, Yulu, said.
