The Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) has invited Request for Qualification from private bidders to start cruise services between Diu and Daman.
The catamaran will cut short the travel time between two Union Territories from 13 hours to 4 hours.
The cruise services will commence on the behalf of Diu Union Territory Administration.
SCI has already helped independent consultants in preparing detailed technical feasibility and economic high viability reports for the same.
The distance between the two UTs by road is about 13 hours. However, by sea, it comes down to only 200 kms.
This will especially help Gujaratis who want to cover Daman-Diu on the same day.
The administration is hopeful that this service will start from May this year.
