Smart City Development Limited board of directors has approved Rs 684 crore for infrastructure development in Raiya smart city in Rajkot. The money will be utilised in the making of Conversion Management Centre, sports arena, Atal lake, Integrated Command and Control Centre and other social infrastructure projects in the city.

The infrastructure development component of Rs 548 crore will include road network, BRTS corridor, bus stops, smart lighting, 24 hours water supply, district cooling system and other facilities. In Raiya smart city a 21km integrated road will also be developed.

Under the Smart City project, the Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) decided to build a convention management centre along with a five-star hotel beside it. Despite being a hub of engineering goods, ceramics, watches and several other products, Saurashtra has no dedicated place to hold summits and conventions.

The convention centre, which will be built in 40,000 sq m area, will come up in Raiya Smart City and the state government also approved a town planning (TP) scheme for the project.

Also, cooling system will be implemented in the 930 acres Raiya greenfield smart city planned under the Centre’s ‘Smart City Mission’.
