Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann urges Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri to include Mohali in Smart City Project

In a meeting held at the Union Minister’s office in New Delhi, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann strongly advocated for the inclusion of SAS Nagar (Mohali) in the Smart City Project, emphasising the importance of its comprehensive development.

Mann highlighted that Mohali, as part of the tricity comprising Chandigarh, Mohali, and Panchkula, holds immense significance. With numerous state government departments headquartered in the city, he emphasised the urgent need to boost its growth.

Mann stressed that it is crucial to incorporate Mohali into the Smart City Project to facilitate its holistic and well-planned progress. He pointed out that the city, along with its neighbouring municipal committees such as Zirakpur, Kharar, Derabassi, and Kurali, has experienced substantial growth due to the presence of an international airport, educational institutes, townships, and industries.

The Chief Minister further stated that special funding is required to support the area’s planned development and infrastructure advancements.
