
In a bid to provide a boost to the smart city works and execute projects worth Rs 300 crore, the Puducherry Smart City Development Ltd. (PSCDL) inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC) India Ltd. on Monday. As per the release, the representative from the PSCDL and NBCC signed the MoU in the presence of the Chief Minister of Puducherry N Rangasamy at the Legislative Assembly.
Smart city development works include the development and improvement of Goubert market, Smart Integrated Bus Terminus, Intra-city bus terminus on the East Coast Road, improvement of Botanical garden, and eco-tourism within the urban forest area in Swadeshi mill, will be taken up under the project. Moreover, the work on the development of a 3-km stretch of the Grand Canal including rehabilitation and beautification, walkways for pedestrians, cycle tracks, further, reconstruction of the Pudumai building on the Beach Road, and an affordable housing project at Attupatti will also be taken up, read the release.
Chief Secretary of the UT of Puducherry Rajeev Varma, Chief Executive Officer of PSCDL T Arun, and Chief General Manager of NBCC PS Rao were also present during the MoU signing.
