PMC partners with Odisha tech firms for smart city

pmcThe city of Patna is eyeing for its inclusion in the next smart city list with Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) partnering with some Bhubaneswar-based tech consultants to prepare a Smart City Proposal (SCP) to be sent to the Union Urban Development Ministry.

The city could not make it in the first two lists taken out by the Centre but is looking forward to be a part of the upcoming list with a revised plan to be made by the consultants in a span of 100 days.

The elements the proposal will take into account include assured electricity supply with at least 10 per cent of the required energy coming from solar power.

Other factors will include adequate water supply including waste water recycling and storm water reuse, sanitation including solid waste management, rain water harvesting, smart metering, robust IT connectivity and digitization, pedestrian-friendly pathways, encouragement to non-motorised transport, intelligent traffic management, non-vehicle streets/zones, and ensuring safety of citizens especially children, women and elderly.

The other cities from Bihar that have already been selected for the smart project in the previous lists are Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur and Bihar Sharif.
