The smart city project in the twin cities is slated to be completed by the end of 2020 for which NECTI has been contracted for operation and maintenance of the systems for the next five years.
NECTI will be implementing a vast range of smart city solutions such as smart city operations center, intelligent traffic management system integrated with AI-based video analytics and environmental and flood sensors. The project will also enable integration of the smart city operations center with existing systems such as parking management system, geographic information system and intelligent transport management system.
The smart city operation center from NECTI will act as the brainchild for all city operations such as emergency and disaster management, gather and process data from several sensors deployed in the smart city systems thus assist the KDMC with making informed decisions during real time events.

The intelligent traffic management system with the use of video analytic features such as Automatic Number Plate Recognition and Red Light Violation Detection will help ensuring road discipline. The system will keep tabs on the traffic junctions to identify traffic offenders and issue warnings. Electronic fines (e-challans) will be issued to offenders for violating traffic rules.
