Manoj Parida inaugurates ICCC as a pilot in Chandigarh

Chandigarh gets an Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) inaugurated as a pilot in the Municipal Corporation building at Sector 17. Manoj Parida, Adviser to the UT Administrator launched the facility on Monday, October 12.

Manoj Parida inaugurates ICCC as a pilot in ChandigarhThe main ICCC, a project worth Rs 295 crore, will come up in Sector 17 in around 18 months. The facility will put to use for surveilling smart field elements such as CCTV cameras, data of which will be channelised into a video wall for real-time surveillance of traffic junctions and other key buildings of the Union Territory, including the civic body’s office. The ICCC will house advanced video analytics system and will be able to generate automatic alerts for events such as abandoned baggage, illegal parking, and crowd detection and so on.

The cameras, for monitoring, has also been installed in the entry and exit points of parking lots which will come in handy for effectively monitoring the operation and will also provide vital inputs like colour, make and model of the vehicle.

Moreover, Chandigarh gets Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) capable of detecting red-light violation, speeding violation, and automatic number plate recognition. The system has been installed at to location in the city as of now. The UT administration expects a reduction in road accidents and traffic violations with the new digital system onboard. Besides, an adaptive traffic control system with reflecting variable messages and signages has also been installed at a traffic junction to maintain a track of traffic movement and provide maximum green time to the vehicles.
