
The Karnataka Government has allocated a fund of Rs 700 crore for the implementation of Smart City projects.
The State’s Urban Development Minister UT Khaddar has announced that projects worth Rs 1,499 crore have already been started in the past six months and tenders for projects worth Rs 1, 407 crores will be made public soon.
In Bengaluru alone projects worth Rs 2,728 crore will be started this year. Under this, 20 major roads will be renovated and KR and Russel markets will be redeveloped.

Bengaluru, Belgavi, Davanegre, Hubbali-dhrwad, Mangaluru, Shivamogga, and Tumakuru have been selected by the Central Government to be developed as Smart Cities.
A sum of Rs 1,772 crore has been released by the Centre for the same.
