Jaipur Smart City Mission: Pink City to get Digital museum; revamp across city and SMS Hospital

In a recent meeting held by the Jaipur Smart City Board, several proposals, including renovation of the Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital and construction of digital museum in the Rajasthan Assembly premises were approved.

Presided by local self government secretary Bhawani Singh Detha, the meeting was attended by Jaipur mayor Vishnu Sharma, Jaipur Development Authority commissioner T Ravikant, Jaipur collector Jagroop Yadav, and CEO, Smart City Mission Alok Ranjan among others.

In a presentation delivered by Ranjan, he said that 13 projects worth Rs 268 crore have been completed while 32 projects worth Rs 528 crore are under progress.

He said a digital museum showcasing the political, economic and social history of Rajasthan will be built in the assembly premises at a cost of Rs 20 crore. The foundation stone laying ceremony of the digital museum will be held on October 2.

Ranjan also said Rs 14 crore has been allocated on repair and renovation of corridors in markets of Jaipur. He said Rs 19 crore have been sanctioned for renovation of Darbar school, construction of a sports complex and community centre, repair of the Maharaja library in Chaura Rasta, repair of Maharaja Girls School in Chhoti Chaupad and repairing of the Yaadgar police control room.

He also shared plans of developing pedestrian paths across the city, for which an amount of Rs 50 crore has been sanctioned. Further, a budget of Rs 16.6 crore has been sanctioned for works to be taken up in the first phase.

Detha directed that officials should ensure proper quality in the works undertaken and they should be completed on time. He also stated that Detailed Project Report (DPR) of remaining programmes should be completed and tenders have to be invited.

Dr Sudhir Bhandari, Principal, SMS Medical College proposed several aspects of infrastructural development within the Medical College and hospital. These included shifting the mortuary, WiFi in the hospital, construction of underground multi-level parking, construction of private rooms and cottages and hostels for medical students. Rs75 crore from the Smart City Mission has been sanctioned for these projects.

Detha stated that UDH minister Shanti Dhariwal had inspected the walled city area some days back and directed that repair and renovation work of corridors of markets in the walled city to be undertaken. He also proposed construction of smart toilets at public locations.

The meeting also approved proposals of parking space at Sawai Manshingh Stadium and Ramlila Maidan, for which budget of Rs 12 crore and Rs 90 crore has been allocated respectively.

Construction of indoor stadium, badminton court, table tennis court, boxing ring at the Chuagan stadium and Sawai Mansingh Stadium has been approved with a budget of Rs 40 crore.

Rs 25 crore has sanctioned for renovation and development of the Talkatora lake. For solid waste management, an amount of Rs 97.32 crore has been sanctioned.
