Indore’s Smart City project work to speed up from January

The Smart City scheme is expected to pick up pace in Indore for the execution of projects from January following authorities awarding several tenders by this month-end.

“Consultants hired for the smart city project have submitted detailed project reports. Tenders will be awarded by December end. Most probably, we will start executing the projects from January,” said Rohan Saxena, Chief Executive Officer, Indore Smart City Development Limited (ISCDL), adding some of the projects such as setting up smart poles, laying underground cables, creating underground ducts have already been started in some areas.

ISCDL appointed Knight Frank India Pvt Ltd as project development and management consultant for an area-based development project last month while global service provider KPMG was asked to prepare a master plan for services like intelligent traffic and garbage management system.

The CEO said, under proof-of-concept system, bids for installing 800 smart poles will be opened this week. Detailed project reports for multi-level parking have been submitted to ISCDL by consultants.

The centre, he said, will have integrated systems to monitor traffic and garbage in the city.

All traffic signals and GPS-enabled public transport vehicles and garbage collecting vehicles will be monitored in real time from the centre.
