In view of the outbreak of COVID-19, extensive cleaning drives are being carried by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC), said officials on March 13.
On the cleaning DMRC said, “The practice has been intensified in the wake of the recent outbreak of COVID-19 with special emphasis on spots, like hand railings, train doors, token-vending machines, passenger emergency alarms, lifts and escalators where people’s hands come in direct contact.”
Moreover, machine-enabled cleaning of the metro trains are being done round-the-clock, added the officials.
The special cleaning drives are being carried on metro stations witnessing high footfall. The authorities are focusing on parking lots, proper disposal of garbage, cleaning of the stations and platform areas, security frisking areas and toilets at the stations.
The officials informed further, the NMRC is using special chemicals and cleaning agents to clean and sanitise the metro stations and the facilities. The corporation is also using banners and other displays including announcements to generate awareness regarding COVID-19.
