
Delhi Environment Minister, Gopal Rai, on October 11 said that the National Capital Region Trasport Corporation (NCRTC) has been charged a fine of Rs 50 lakh for violating dust pollution control norms at its construction site near Vikas Sadan, INA.
The minister conducted an inspection on the day along with officials and following the exercise said that the NCRTC was already aware of the anti-dust operations being carried out in the national capital. And, the corporation was found violating the dust control norms, thus, has been penalised with a fine amount of Rs 50 lakh. If the non-compliance of the norms become a recurring affair, the work will be shut.
On the fine, NCRTC put forward its views saying, “The company has been taking all the dust control measures at its work sites. However, this particular site has come to our notice and necessary corrective actions will be taken at the earliest.”

The minister on Delhi’s pollution control drive added that the government’s teams and officials are visiting all the hotspots and the places where the construction or demolition works are underway. The Delhi government is taking strict measures to control pollution levels in the city in this crucial time of the year.
