DDA to renovate Delhi’s business centres

Delhi Development Authority (DDA) will soon give make over to the capital city’s three important commercial centres namely Nehru Place, Bhikaji Cama and Basant Lok Market.

The Urban Development Ministry has instructed DDA to renovate these major business centres. Soon, the South Delhi Municipal Corporation who is responsible for the maintenance of these areas will hand over them to DDA.

“The ministry has given in-principle approval for all three projects and DDA is in the process of obtaining the no-objection certificate from the corporation,” said J P Aggarwal, Principal Commissioner of Land Disposal and Housing, DDA in conversation with The Times of India.

As part of the project, DDA will repair pavement, develop open spaces, repair important buildings, construct and maintain toilets, pathway etc.

DDA is planing to take help of Unified Traffic and Transportation Infrastructure (Planning and Engineering) Centre (UTTIPEC) and traffic police to solve the traffic woes in these areas.

The proposal to renovate Nehru Place has been under consideration for nearly nine months.
