COVID-19| Bihar imposes lockdown till May 15

In order to control the surging COVID infections in the state of Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced the imposition of a statewide lockdown in Bihar till 15 May. The decision to impose the lockdown was taken on May 3 following a discussion with ministers and government officials. However, the CM informed that the detailed guidelines about the lockdown will be decided by the Crisis Management Group.

As reported by a national daily, Bihar reported 11,407 new COVID-19 cases and 82 deaths on May 3. Of the 82 people who succumbed to the COVID infection, Patna accounted for 24 deaths while Muzaffarpur reported 13 deaths, Madhepura six deaths and West Champaran five deaths.
