BMC reviews SCADA technology implemented for water supply analysis and data

Bhopal Municipal Corporation

Urban Development and Housing Association, Bhopal has recently pulled up implementative agencies for Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA). The SCADA technology is used to gather and analyse real time data.

In case of Bhopal, the SCADA is used to monitor the 24 hours water supply from Narmada river in Bhopal. As per reports, Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) is catering to catering to SCADA under the AMRIT scheme, whereas BSCDCL has undertaken implementation of SCADA as a pan-city project.

The objective of the project was to monitor the water consumption in each household of Bhopal and alert about leakage, improper distribution or water scarcity in a particular locality.

However, the BMC officials have reported that the SCADA monitoring at the Ahmednagar plant is not up to the mark. Apart from Ahmednagar, BMC has installed the SCADA monitoring system in Idgah Hills Plantation firm.

Initiated in May 2018, around Rs 40 crore has been invested for the SCADA technology in Bhopal by BSCDL. It is a part of Bhopal city water utility management system.
