All cities in Haryana to get CCTVs: Anil Vij

Haryana Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) Minister, Anil Vij, while addressing the Haryana Vidhan Sabha session and said  that the State Government has plans to install CCTV cameras in all cities of the state and appropriate guidelines for the same are also being issued.

Anil VijEarlier, the CCTV cameras installed in the Smart Cities by the ULBs Department are now being maintained by the Home Department, said the Minister. These cameras play an important role in crime prevention and the State Government is seriously looking forward to such interventions, added Vij.

Putting forward the CCTV installation plan, the Minister said that around 1500 cameras will be installed for surveillance and traffic management in Faridabad and 94 junctions will be fitted with cameras for traffic monitoring. Moreover, the city has already got 700 CCTV cameras installed under the Smart City Mission. Besides this, around 760 CCTV cameras are being installed in Karnal under the Smart City Mission for about Rs 159 crore.

Vij also said that as many as 120 CCTV cameras will be installed on National Highway-1 (NH-1) in various districts by Haryana State Electronics Development Corporation Limited (HSEDCL) for active surveillance and safety. Additionally, the Minister said, 22 CCTV cameras are to be installed in Ambala. Kurukshetra will get 24 cameras, 28  for Karnal, 22 for Panipat, and 24 for Sonipat, the project is worth Rs 7.54 crore.
