Union Minister boards Delhi Metro to avoid traffic jam

Hardeep Singh PuriStuck in heavy traffic jam on his way to the airport, Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of State for Housing and Urban affairs had to  board the Delhi Metro on Tuesday. He was caught in a traffic jam in Dhaula Kuan in Delhi.

He was delighted with the experience of this public transport and gave it five stars on twitter. The tweet has gone viral since then.

While on my way to the airport this morning I found myself stuck in the midst of a huge traffic jam near Dhaula Kuan.

Choice was to either miss the flight or hop on to the #Metro; so that’s what I did.

In pictures shared by him on social media, it can be seen that he communicated with the general public as well.

To ease the burden of last year high fares, he also advised Delhi Metro to cut some fare for students and senior citizens.

This initiative should not be considered as “populist”, said minister; however he has not mentioned any specific time frame for the implementation of this scheme.

There were many instances in past where many ministers used public transport in New Delhi, especially during the odd-even scheme.
