Underground Metro Stations in Chennai connect Rail, Road and Air Travel

With the opening of six new underground metro stations in Chennai, commuters can reach to all the major transport hubs in less than an hour, by using a single train. A train from Central Metro, the city’s largest underground transit hub will have a stop at Egmore (Residential, Commercial, Transportation hub) then CMBT (Bus terminal) and reach to the airport in about 50 minutes.

Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Edappadi Palaswami flagged off the operations at the stations covering 6.8 km on two different stretches, including 4.5 km underground line on Anna Salai. About 75 percent of the work of the Phase 1 Metro has already been done.

During peak hours, a direct train from Central Metro in every 10 minutes and 20 minutes during non-peak hours, said officials.
