Pimpri Metro construction begins

Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited has started the construction of first metro station of the Pimpri-Swargate route.

Pits are being digged for the the constrution of entry and exit points of the metro station. The station will be build at a cost of Rs 50 crore and is expected to be over by December 2019.

Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL), popularly known as MahaMetro is constructing the 16.589km long Pimpri-Swargate Metro route which will connect the twin cities of Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad.

11.57 km of this metro will be elevated and the rest of it will be underground.

8kms of the elevated metro will fall in the jurisdiction of  Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) limits.

MahaMetro is also preparing a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the extension of this metro to Nigdi.
