Pimpri-Chinchwad to get 3,300 CCTV cameras under smart city project

As part of the smart city project, Pimpri-Chinchwad officials are planning to install 3,300 CCTV cameras, in areas within the jurisdiction of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate. The authorotoes plan to complete the project in a span of one year.

Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar, who is also the CEO of Pimpri Chinchwad Smart City Ltd, said the project was approved at a board meeting last week.

The state authorities aim to control traffic and monitor crime rate intending to bring it down, with the move. According to reports, around 170 cameras will be installed across 25 spots all three phases of the IT park at Hinjewadi. The areas to be monitored under the project are Pimpri-Chinchwad, Hinjewadi, Alandi, Talegaon and Chakan.

The CCTV installation project will cost around Rs 300 crore, which will be borne by the central government, state government and Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC).

Some time back, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) also announced to construct a multi-sports centre in Pimple Gurav under the smart city project.
