NAREDCO-UP to employ 2.5 lakh migrant workers returned

In order to provide employment to migrant workers returned to Uttar Pradesh due to COVID outbreak, National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the state government. As per the MoU, NAREDCO is to provide employment to 2.5 lakh migrant workers.

The MoU was signed by NAREDCO’s UP chapter in the presence of Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of UP, in Lucknow on May 29, as reported by news agency PTI.

In a video conference, RK Arora, President NAREDCO-UP told the press, “We have signed an MoU with the UP government for providing employment opportunities to 2.5 lakh labourers of UP who have returned from different states because of coronavirus.” The pact is a win-win situation for labourers, the state government and homebuyers. The labourers will be employed and the construction work will begin, Arora added.

As per the MoU, as many as 2.5 lakh workers will be employed for projects ongoing in Ghaziabad, Noida and Greater Noida, whereas, the rest 1.25 workers will be employed for various projects across other cities in the state. Moreover, the 250 developers associated with NAREDCO-UP will also provide training to labourers to undertake construction work, said Arora.
