Mumbai Maritime Board to revamp Murud Khora Port

In a major initiative to boost the tourism in the State, Maharashtra Maritime Board (MMB) has decided to give a face-lift to Murud Khora port-cum-beach in Murud taluka of Raigad. The Murud Khora port has been known as a tourist attraction point in providing boat tourism service to the popular Janjira fort.

In its overhaul plan, MMB is building a shed for tourists, providing drinking water and toilet facilities, high mast lights, ticket counter besides shops at a cost of Rs 1.06 crore. Besides, it will also have CCTV camera surveillance at the beach.

In its initiative to give a much-needed push to the promote coastal tourism in the state, the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) is planning to reclaim around 250m x 150m rock area by filling it in the port. MTDC will develop various facilities on this reclaimed area for tourists and install solar power lighting system in the area.

Around 60,000 tourists every year come to the port to reach Janjira Fort. Many other tourists also visit the beach. The upgradation of facilities in the port will certainly be a boost to tourism in the State.
