Mangalore City Corporation is going to open five new dry waste collection centres in the city soon.
The land has already been allocated to the centres. They will be operated by an agency selected by the corporation.
The Corporation is planning to open such centres in town panchayats, Municipal Corporations and other such local bodies.
The Corporation also plans to set up Deposit Centre for domestic Hazardous Waste in the city. It will be set up as per the guidelines prescribed by the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board.
The City Corporation will also ensure processing of different solid waste, processing of bio-degradable waste, processing of non-re cyclable bio-degradable waste, processing of domestic hazardous waste including sanitary waste, etc.
