Centre nods Kanpur civic body’s rejigged smart city project

mygov_144631467413852171The renewed smart city proposal of Kanpur Municipal Corporation (KMC) has got green signal from Ministry of Urban Development to float tenders to find out a new company for preparing the project.

KMC have to finalise the name of new company for preparing the project by the end of this month, Suresh Chandra, nodal officer of the smart city said.

The new company will not only remove the shortcomings of the previous project but in the new project it would also focus on the parks, roads and drainage system of the selected areas of the city, he added.

He told that the Urban Development Ministry has approved the appeal of Kanpur Municipal Corporation to replace the old company – Dorch Consultants _ with a new one and has asked to submit the renewed project before the central government for its approval.

“The new project will cover Ghantaghar, Nai Sadak, Express Road, nayaganj, Parmat, Parade and 19 wards under 500 acre area. A sum of Rs 50 crore is to be invested in infrastructure of sewer and potable water,” the nodal officer revealed. He also told about introduction of some new projects including flyovers at Narhona crossing to Parade, GT Road, Govind Nagar and Rawatpur flyovers and multi level parking at all major markets in the project.
