Sweden and India have collaborated to promote Environmentally Sustainable Transport (EST) which will lead to establish a safe, reliable, affordable, efficient, people-centric and environment friendly transport system.

A workshop on sustainable transport ‘The way to sustainable transport: an Indo-Swedish perspective’ was inaugurated by Karnataka’s Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in Bangalore. The event also saw the presence of Swedish Envoy to India Harald Sandberg and senior advisor to Sweden trade minister, Ambassador Jonas Hafstrom.

The visit of the Swedish delegates is aimed to identify areas within transport and urban planning with potential for further collaboration between the two countries. Calling for best practices and planning for transforming Indian cities and towns safe for all, Siddaramaiah said the workshop will foster economical, social and environmental developments.

The visit by the transport delegation from Sweden is a reciprocal visit to strengthen the bilateral relation between Sweden and India and aims to integrate developing countries in the world economy and contribute in the eradication of poverty.
