Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directed the Urban Development Ministry to draw up the project and ensure that the mini smart cities meet the norms set by the government.

The mini smart city project is proposed to ensure adequate and safe drinking water supply. In fact, the townships covered under the project will recycle the used water.

The government will also guarantee 24-hour power supply, proper sanitation, solid waste management system, clean and pollution free environment in these mini smart cities. Also, there will be provisions for people to buy affordable houses.

To achieve these goals, the government will make the maximum use of information technology.
