Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu said that smart transportation has an important role in building smart city.
Also, he said that Indian Railways is planning to build satellite terminals near some of the busiest junctions. It aims at reducing pressure on such stations and the city traffic around it.
At a conference on US-India cooperation on smart transportation, the minister emphasised on the collaboration between the two countries in the rail sector.
“US is a great friend and partner of India. We can move to a new level in this sector,” he said.
