In order to monitor the COVID-19 situation centrally, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) set up a control room at its headquarters on Sunday, March 22.
Anuradha, retired Additional Commissioner of GHMC, will head the new control room. As per a press release from GHMC, there will be GHMC available round the clock and officials from the Health Department will be available in shifts.
For effective monitoring, the State government will fetch and send the data holding details of all the persons who have arrived from foreign countries after March 1, to the control room. The control room will pass on the data to various circles to be informed to ward level teams. The local teams will visit the households as per the data provided and collect information on the health of the respective persons and their family members besides the details on home quarantine. The info will be sent to the control room. A stamp indicating the duration of home quarantine will be placed on their hands. In case any person found having COVID-19 symptoms, the same will be reported to the control room.
The control room will also monitor the movement of patients to quarantine centres as well. Although, the patients cannot contact the control room directly, but can certainly call on 104 and connect with a call centre for help.
