DIAL installs innovative disinfection tech to battle COVID at Delhi Airport

In a bid to strengthen its prevention against the COVID infection, the Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) said, today, that it has newly installed several technological innovations to combat Coronavirus. DIAL said that it has deployed an innovative technology using mobile towers, hand-held torch and baggage tunnel that throws out ultraviolet (UV) rays to disinfect surfaces.

DIAL, in a press release, elaborating on the technology said, sensor-based taps in passenger washrooms, sanitiser dispenser which van be operated by foot, sensor-based and paddle operated drinking water fountain, have been installed for ensuring contactless use of the amenities and least chances of viral spread. Moreover, a passenger trolley disinfection system and walk-in shoe sanitizer mats are some of the unique facilities for passengers’ safety amidst the pandemic.

As per the release, it takes around five seconds to completely disinfect used trolleys, with the newly installed tech. Further, the UV tunnel has been installed at Terminal 3 which will help in disinfecting the passengers’ bags.

The release also stated that the mobile disinfecting towers will disinfect various locations using UV lamps. These towers are placed in properly cordoned areas of a terminal for disinfection. Moreover, the towers can be relocated manually when needed, the release added.

However, the hand-held disinfection torches will be used to disinfect handbags, desktops, laptops and other devices said the press note.
