
The fifth phase of the complete lockdown in the national capital begins today, on Monday. The Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal announced the fifth phase of the lockdown on Sunday, May 16, during his visit to a COVID-19 health facility established outside Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital in Delhi.
While addressing the people of Delhi through media persons at the site, CM Kejriwal said, “The lockdown is being extended till 5 am next Monday, May 24.” As the COVID-19 infections had surged in Delhi causing an emergency-like situation, the Chief Minister of Delhi imposed a series of lockdowns to control the pandemic on April 19. The national capital was to exit the lockdown at 5 am on April 26 but the number of cases favoured the extension of the lockdown. Since then, the lockdown has been extended five times and the fifth phase of the same began today morning that is set to ens on May 24 as per the CM’s announcement.
